I am trying to solve some problems on my son-in-law's Pavilion dv9927cl, p/n FE898UA#ABA running Vista Home Premium sp2. Bios is F.34, 3/22/2011. The Ethernet adapter is an NVIDIA nForce 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet. The IP Address is: 169.254.51.56, subnet mask 255.255.0.0. The driver is1.0.1.6789, 8/1/2008.
I was actually trying to get the wireless working, but that's another whole can of worms. Anyway, I brought the laptop to my house and plugged it into my router. What I get is; Unidentified network - Access: Limited Connectivity. The other three systems on the network (G60 laptop, Pavilion1250n desktop, and an older system on wireless) all work fine. The router thells me that they are all there and working. It also tells me that the ethernet connection to the dv9700 laptop is up and communicating.
Unfortunately they had to replace the primary hard drive in this system and couldn't restore the recovery partition. They also didn't create restore disks when they got the laptop.
Any ideas would be appreciated. I'll put in a seperate message on the wireless, which is a Broadcom 4322AG that doesn't show up in the Device Manager, although it does in msconfig.
