I recently bought an:
HP Envy TS17 Laptop
Windows 8.1 64 bit
Realtek Driver 2012.7.1231.2013
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8179&SUBSYS_197D103C&REV_01
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8179&SUBSYS_197D103C
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8179&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8179&CC_0280
It has a Realtek RTL8188EE WiFi card that is supposed to support b/g/n modes.
The fastest I can get the card to operate (view status) is 65mps. That translates into about 40mps at SpeedTest.net The driver for the card which is the latest available driver does not give the option to use n mode. My other laptop sitting next to this one is in n mode at 130mps with no problem. It clocks 60mps at SpeedTest.net. I contacted HP support and I was sent a new card which I installed today. Same results. The card connects fine and holds a connection without problems. It just won't run in n-mode and the driver does not offer that as an option. I researched this online and found. a similiar issue with an Intel card.In that case it was the result of the card being made in n and non-n versions. I don't understand why I am unable to get this card to operate in n-mode, Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Scott
