Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter not working properly

I bought an HP Pavilion TouchSmart with Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter. Everything worked fine until, I can't say when that really started, I experienced some problems with my WiFi connection. I'm not really sure, but I have the feeling that this has been getting worse over time. Suddenly the internet connection is lost. Troubleshooting gives me different results, most of the time it is "The default gateway is not available." Sometimes it gets fixed, sometimes not. I looked online what the problem could be. So I opened my Device Manager and checked the Network Adapter, unchecked "Allow the computer to turn off this device...", but that didn't help. Another time the Power Management tab wasn't even available. Sometimes the adapter is disabled. Don't know why. Sometimes I can enable it by just clicking on Enable. This doen't mean I get internet, only that the adapter is enabled. Sometimes it wouldn't even let me enable it.

- And there dropped my internet connection again!!!

Troubleshooting: "The default gateway is not available" - Fixed

I updated the WiFi adapter to version 5.0.37.0. Didn't fix the problem.
Sometimes my computer is telling me there are no connections available. But I know that there are plenty around.

Someone please help me! I'm desperate!

Thank you.

Silke
