Hi all!
I have an EliteBook 8470p/Win7/i7-3720QM/16Gig/180 SSD/1T HDD and a full complement of wired/wireless network capabilities.
I have a tower in my apartment dedicated to the Internet via dial-up. Very slow (provider wise), nay, slower than hell. So I decided to ditch the land line and dial-up, however, not before making sure that I can get online with my laptop without a major hitch.
Well, for the time being there is a hitch, a major one. I can get as far as Google, Microsoft and YouTube. No other site, including index pages of major tech sites, such as this one. And, after I search on Google and get results and click on any, I invariably get http://securelogin.arubanetworks.com, a secure database HP site. I cannot get past Google's or Microsoft's index page. No matter what I do, everything defaults to the HP site. However, I CAN get music on YouTube when clicking various pointers to recordings.
I need to mention that no one else has this problem. I updated the drivers (to v15.9.1.2/2014). Went into the register and searched for the URL. No improvement with the new driver, URL not found in the register. I use 5 browsers. All of them default to this site. I did not import any profiles from IE into the other browsers. Sometimes, I also get redirected to an AVG secure site, and again, cannot get past this one either. Again, I asked around, including the manager who uses the same hot point, and all say they don't have this problem.
ANY IDEAS about this before I take some drastic moves such as reinstalling all of the software, top to bottom? (want to avoid the huge job).
Thanks in advance, Sylva.
